How to Stop Targeted Ads on iPhone (Beyond the Built-In Settings)

The short answer

Network-level blocking stops apps from reaching known ad and tracking domains. Casper's Cloak provides this blocking system-wide across every app, not just your browser.

Start with what iOS already gives you

iOS includes App Tracking Transparency, which catches some tracking.

Why targeted ads still get through

Apps and embedded webviews can make network connections to ad and tracking domains. Browser-only blockers only cover connections within their browser; they don't provide system-wide coverage across other apps.

What Casper's Cloak adds

Casper's Cloak blocks ads and trackers at the network level, system-wide, across every app on your iPhone — not just in Safari. When any app tries to reach a known ad or tracking domain, Casper blocks that connection before it resolves, regardless of which app made the request. Domains you manually exclude from the tunnel (for example, via Smart Bypass) aren't covered by this blocking, so the system-wide coverage applies to default, non-excluded routing. That adds coverage beyond browser-only blocking.

A realistic approach

This reduces the volume of ads delivered by blocking the domains that serve them — it reduces how many ads you see, not the underlying targeting or profiling that happens elsewhere.

  1. Add network-level blocking with Casper's Cloak so ad and tracking domains are blocked across every app.
  2. Casper's Cloak runs on iPhone, Android, and Mac under one subscription, so the same protection follows you across devices rather than resetting every time you switch apps or platforms. Current plans are at casperscloak.com/subscriptions.
