How to Stop Phishing Links From Reaching Your iPhone

The short answer

One way to help stop a phishing link from doing damage on your iPhone is to block the malicious domain before the connection ever opens. Phishing links arrive through texts, iMessage, email, and even links inside other apps, and once tapped, they all do the same thing: ask your phone to connect to a destination. If that destination never resolves, the fake login page never loads.

Why phishing links are hard to catch by eye

Phishing has moved past the obvious "Nigerian prince" email. Today it's a text that looks like it's from your delivery carrier, a login page that's a near-pixel copy of your bank, or a QR code on a parking meter. Phishing links can use brand-new domains that aren't yet on static blocklists — a domain has to be added to a blocklist before that list can block it.

Network-level blocking catches links wherever they show up

Casper's Cloak runs an AI threat classifier on every connection your device makes — across SMS, iMessage, email, browsers, and webviews inside other apps, not just inside Safari. Instead of waiting for a domain to be reported and blocklisted, the classifier scores the destination itself, looking at signals like how new the domain is and how it's hosted, and blocks connections that look like phishing infrastructure before any page loads. That's the core difference from catching phishing by reading carefully: the block happens at the network layer, regardless of which app the link arrived through.

What this looks like day to day

  • You tap a link in a text. If the destination is identified as a phishing threat, the connection is blocked instead of opening.
  • A webview inside a free app tries to load a fake login screen. Same blocking applies — it isn't limited to your browser.
  • Email client previews or loads a tracking pixel from a scam sender. The same network-level filtering applies there too.

What this doesn't replace

No filtering layer catches every single phishing attempt — new domains and clever social engineering will occasionally get through, so healthy skepticism about unexpected login prompts is still worth keeping. Casper's Cloak is a layer that works in the background across apps, not a replacement for noticing something's off.
