How to Block Trackers in Apps, Not Just Your Browser

How do I block trackers in apps, not just the browser?

Use a system-wide tracker blocker that filters at the DNS and network level so it applies to every app on the device — not a browser extension or content blocker that only covers Safari or Chrome. Browser-based blockers like content blockers only see traffic inside the browser. The weather app, the game, the shopping app, the social app — each carries its own trackers that a browser extension never touches. Trackers follow you from app to app, building a profile across all of them.

Why browser-only blocking leaves a gap

  • A Safari content blocker filters Safari. Apps that load their own network requests are untouched.
  • Per-app tracker blocking is inconsistent and easy to miss.
  • Once you leave home Wi-Fi, a Pi-hole or router-level filter no longer covers the phone unless you tunnel back to it.

How to block trackers everywhere
