Those trackers can follow you even when you’re not in a browser, which is why ads can seem to “remember” you inside games, social apps, and other tools.

Why do ads follow me to every app?

Advertising and analytics companies use tracking technology to connect your activity across multiple apps and networks. When an app contacts an ad or tracking domain, that domain can use identifiers and patterns to link your behavior over time, which can result in the same or similar ads appearing in many different places.

  • Apps talk to ad and tracking domains
    Many apps load ads or measure usage by contacting ad and tracking services. When your device connects to these domains, it gives those services a chance to observe your behavior.
